New word of the day

One I haven’t heard for quite a while, possibly because I haven’t been back home to see the family for a while. But Laura posted a comment on the Not Shakespeare post containing the word “neb” which I had to make word of the day if only because none of the dictionaries online seem to define it in the way it was being used:

Pronunciation: ‘neb
Function: verb
Etymology: Not a clue, but probably from its Old or Middle English noun usage to mean a beak or nose
1 : To look at, to be nosey.

I’d never heard it before I met Debbie, but she more often uses “Nebby” or “Nebbying”.
