Things to read

A very nice neighbour just brought around my package from Cold Tonnage books. Everything is as expected and my copy of Adventures in the Dream Trade is numbered 1759. If you ever come across one and need to know: the first 10 were lettered a to j, the next batch were numbered 1 to 290 and the remaining 1700 were trade copies (still hardback) numbered 291 to 1990. Mine is signed by Neil Gaiman although it appears that only the first 300 were originally destined for that honour. There is now a general paperback edition available too.

I’m currently reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold which is pulling all the right strings so far. It’s probably at the top of the books I’ve read this year and has the potential to become an all time favorite. Unfortunately, due to it being a hardback copy and me going the the Big Chill, I’ll have to take a break from it. In case I need to read I’ll be taking Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita which was in my pile of books to read anyway and is apparently to be the subject of a local reading group next month. I can’t actually make the next meeting of the readin g group as I’m at Ajay’s wedding, but I’ll read it in sympathy :)
