Golf fun (or not)
On Wednesday afternoon myself and Paul decided to play a round of golf. Neither of us had a particularly good front 9 and Paul got worse on the back 9 as I got better. A couple of times during the round we thanked our luck that the storms we could hear were missing the course and we were only occaionally getting a little light rain. Thats until we got to the 18th tee.
At that point people started racing past us who were obviously abandoning their round; we soon found out why. Waving a metal stick in the air started to seem like a really stupid idea when the fork lightning was clearly striking ground in and around the course. I’ve never heard thunder so loud or so frequently; I can only imagine that we were directly in the middle of a storm system. We abandoned the 18th and went for a well earned shandy in the 19th.
My score (front and back) was 53 and 40 (plus the abandoned last). I’m consistently better on the back 9 so perhaps I should actually get around to warming up before starting a round!
