Friday Nights

Well that’s 2 Friday nights of fun in a row. Depending on your definition of fun I suppose. This time it starts a little more bizarrely, with a dream in which I was sort of detached, kind of like playing a computer game. There were skeletons with swords chasing me/my character across the screen and I had to drop my weapons to outpace them. At some point I took a wrong turn and they caught me via the shorter route I should have taken. I woke at around 2.30 with the first strike of their sword.

Ordinarily this wouldn’t cause too many issues, only this time I woke to find my face, neck, shoulders and pillow covered in blood. I’ve never seen quite so much blood in real life before and I was a little shocked to say the least. I probably panicked somewhat before managing to find a clean handkerchief to roll up tight and bite on to stem the flow. An hour later it was still flowing so MC called NHS direct to ask their opinion and was told to try biting on a tampon and if it didn’t stop in 15-20 minutes to go to casualty. As you can imagine I was looking forward to arriving at A&E with a tampon in my mouth.

4am, Casualty: I was the only person waiting to be seen so guess how quickly I was seen by A&E? That’s right, over an hour. By that time my consistent pressure on the wound had stopped the bleeding so the doctor saw me for all of 5 minutes. Basically he decided that it had started bleeding again due to an infection and sent me away with some swabs (not swabs those hard rolled packs) to bite on should it happen again and a weeks course of antibiotics.

Outside at approaching 5.30 there was an old guy waiting for a taxi to take him down to Coten End which is practically on my way so I gave him a lift before heading back to Leamington Spa and the comfort of my bed (once I’d replaced the pillow). I couldn’t sleep for a while so I read a bit of Raymond E Feist’s Magician before heading off to sleep. I finally woke at 12.30 and I feel a bit odd today. I think I’ll do as little as possible this weekend.
